A young boy tells the story of his neighbor who brutally hacked up his father in the basement of his house; Al and Janine, quarrel, make-up, and decide to get married after seeing a horror movie about a young man who brutally hacked up his father; Joe dreamed up the movie, but got no credit because he was said to have stolen the idea from a famous unfinished film, a claim that angered him so much he started drinking again; and then there’s the movie maker who made that incomplete epic in the first place.

Created by one of Canada’s most prolific theatre artists, Daniel MacIvor, Monster is a humorous, and immensely clever, one-man, multi-character exploration about the dark side of human nature.

Presented by Kill Your Television Theatre. Multiple winner of the Outstanding Independent Production Sterling Award.

Kerem chose to study theatre design in Edmonton after working as a dancer, choreographer, production manager, stage technician and earning an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering. After finishing his MFA Theatre Design degree with his thesis production A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM (set, costume and lighting design), Kerem designed costumes and lights for SCYTHE (Dammitdance Theatre), lighting design for HANSEL AND GRETEL (Opera Nuova), set and costume design for ONLY DRUNKS AND CHILDREN TELL THE TRUTH (Keyano Theatre), production designs for HAMLET (Theatre Prospero), CHEECH (Mutts Nuts Theatre), THE GLASS MENAGERIE (Kill Your Television Theatre) and HELEN’S NECKLACE (Shadow Theatre). Some of his previous work abroad include working as the resident lighting designer of Istanbul International Jazz Festival (summer 2004) and designing set and lighting for SEZ (Laboratuar Performance Arts Company – Istanbul), a contemporary dance performance commissioned by World Architecture Congress 2005. Kerem is very excited about revisiting this amazing show, FAITHLESS, and its talented team, in this beautiful theatre.

Kerem’s lighting design for A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM, has been chosen and displayed in the gallery exhibit of World Stage Design 2005 (12-19 March 2005, Toronto), one of the 3 lighting designs representing Canada in the exhibition.
