“This is the Country Chorale, signing off. And remember, ladies and gents, there are a lot of people in this old world, and a lot of songs. Keep singin’ em. Good night. God bless.”
This is the story of a small town girl with big time dreams, of the boy who wants to take care of her and of the music that envelopes them all. The year is 1958, the Beatles and the Space Race are a decade away, Hank Williams and Patsy Cline are the idols of rural North America, particularly for Ruby who dreams of stardom and escape from the claustrophobic world of a small town where everybody knows everybody else – and what is good for them. Joint production with Red Deer College’s Centre Stage, featuring the then unknown k.d. lang (Kathy Lang).
