THE THEATRE NETWORK SUMMER ACADEMY

Created by Theatre Network, sponsored by The Newell Family Foundation and hosted at the newly built Roxy Theatre, the TN Summer Academy provides the unique opportunity for young theatre artists to gather, create and perform a new play at the Edmonton International Fringe Festival in August.

During four weeks of rehearsal, actors aged 13-17 will develop and rehearse a play, work on developing performance skills, learn about theatre creation, experiment with style, connect with mentors through workshops and meet like-minded peers.

After the four weeks of rehearsal, actors will present a ten-show run of public performances on the Nancy Power stage in the newly built Roxy Theatre on 124th Street during the Edmonton International Fringe Festival.

“Two things stood out to me the most while participating in the Theatre Network Summer Academy. The first being the detailed step by step process of creating our play. It gave me an opportunity to really experience and participate in what its like the create a show. Secondly I loved working with everyone, meaning: the cast, Ellen, all our other instructors and all the people who came in to teach us something…” – 2022 Student Participant

“We are so grateful to everyone involved for making it such an incredible experience. She came home every day excited to tell us about what was worked on and or learned that day.” -2022 Parent
