WHY WE MOVE AND ALL THINGS CHOREO (Competition, Commercial and Musical Theatre Choreography)

A movement workshop exploring choreography processes for both musical theatre and competitive dance. Come ask questions, find inspiration, and build confidence in your creative process. All levels welcome. Opportunities for choreography will be woven throughout the workshop, so participants that have interest in this, are encouraged to bring a song or idea that inspires them.

Brittany Black (Kjenner) is a dance educator, choreographer, and adjudicator from Amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton). She is an instructor and choreographer in MacEwan University’s Musical Theatre Performance program and is passionate about creating safe, joyful spaces where dancers at every stage of life can thrive. With a diverse career spanning performance, instruction, and creative direction, Brittany’s choreography reflects her love of storytelling and the joy of movement. Some of her recent works include productions of Anne of Green Gables (Nuova), Into the Woods, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (MacEwan) and Legally Blonde (Ross Shepard). She is also involved in movement coordination in local Edmonton productions, commercials, and music videos that include clients like the Skirtsafire Festival and the City of Edmonton. Brittany also shares her expertise as a guest instructor at dance conventions across Canada. Above all, Brittany finds so much joy in watching her students grow, achieve, and succeed in class, in exams, and especially on stage!
