Sailor’s Song

Twilla feels blessed to be working with such a great cast and crew, as well as the wonderful Amy DeFelice. She was most recently seen beating drums in Anime at this year’s Fringe. This past season, she played Cathy in Blarney Production’s Orange Flower Water, for which she was given a Sterling award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. She also performed her one-person show The Cloister at Workshop West’s Canoe Festival. Other highlights of the 2007/08 season include Dave Clarke’s song score for the Murnau film Sunrise: A Song for Two Humans, as well as the bit part of Manuelita, a scrappy factory girl in Carmen with Edmonton Opera. Twilla is a graduate of the University of Alberta BFA Acting program, as well as the University of Lethbridge Music Program.

Bab has had a wonderful time, and been so pleased to work with this great group on Sailor’s Song. Bob is a very active actor/musician in Edmonton, and when he isn’t working on a production or touring shows to Alberta schools, he plays a tiny drum set for Edmonton’s finest ukulele cover band, The Be ARthurs. Bob is also a member of Ribbit Republic who are gearing up for a new production called Grimmer Than Grimm, at the Catalyst theatre in January, as part of the Indie 5 Season. He really thinks you ‘d like that show too. Bob would like to thank Michelle and Glenson for being beautiful and patient. Bob is dedicating this show to his Nana, who advised him to choose love. She was right.

Vanessa Sabourin is an Edmonton-based performer, producer and collaborator. Selected credits include: Drowning Girls (Alberta Theatre Projects and Bent Out of Shape); Midsummer Nights Dream, Richard, and Macbeth (Freewill Players), The Sound of Music, Grease, and Christmas Carol (Citadel); Madagascar (Blarney Productions); Between Yourself and Me (Shadow Theatre), The Spit Fire Grill (Leave it to Jane); Prophetess (Sound and Fury Theatre). Vanessa is co-founder of The Maggie Tree and will direct their up-coming production, A Life in the Day, by Beth Graham this February. She will also appear in Nevermore (Catalyst Theatre) this May.

George’s first role was in kindergarten, where he played one of The Three Little Kittens Who Lost Their Mittens; he forgot the words to the song, and felt funny wearing a leotard. His mom was watching, which made it worse. He has since rebounded, having appeared on the Roxy stage in The Anger in Ernest and Ernestine (Aarrgghh!! Productions), The Black Rider (November Theatre/Theatre Network), Dinner with Friends (Theatre Buffet Co-op). His play Hockey Stories for Boys was produced at the Roxy by Azimuth Theatre. George promises to remember most of the words, and assures us that he has learned to love the soft caress of a pair of leotards.

After receiving her BFA in Dance from Simon Fraser University is 2002, Linda has been teaching Pilates, working as Dance Curator for Dancefest@Nextfest, involving herself with a number of collaborative performance and film projects, as well as creating and performing her own contemporary dance works. Recent performance credits include Scythe, Living Off the Land (Dammitdance Theatre 2007), Duck Duck Bang! (Firefly Theatre and Fringe Theatre Adventures 2007) and MaskedMemory (self produced 2008). Linda is also busy preparing for her upcoming full-length dance project (with no title…), which will be featured at the Roxy Theatre as part of the Expanse Movement Arts Festival in February 2009.

Amber is delighted and inspired to be working with The Other’s vastly talented creative team. She works in both theatre and contemporary dance as a performer, creator and educator. Amber has performed across Canada, the United States and one super magical time in Japan with wonderful artists and companies like Theatre Network, Ghost River Theatre, Northern Light Theatre, The High Performance Rodeo, The Maggie Tree, Azimuth Theatre, Tania Alvarado, Mile Zero Dance and Firefly Theatre. A graduate of the BFA acting program at the U of A, Amber has received three Sterling Awards, the most recent being for her role in in Little One at Theatre Network.

This is Gerry’s third show with Amy, after Adam Butterfly and The Yalta Game. Gery has worked at the Winspear, Victoria School, Theatre Network and The Citadel.

Lisa is stoked to be designing once again on the Theatre Network stage!  Lisa is a graduate of the University of Winnipeg acting and design program (1999) and obtained her masters degree in design from the University of Alberta (2005). Lisa currently lives in Edmonton but designs both in Winnipeg and Edmonton.

Lisa recently returned from Toronto after working at the Royal Alexandra Theatre as the Associate Set and Costume designer for BOYS IN THE PHOTOGRAPH a new musical written and directed by Ben Elton, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Some of her most recent design credits include: set, assistant costume and lighting designer and props master on TITUS ANDRONICUS & COMEDY OF ERRORS (Freewill Players), production designer for APPLES AND ORANGES (Concrete Theatre) costume, props and puppet designs for LITTLE MUNSCH ON THE PRAIRIE (Prairie Theatre Exchange, Winnipeg) costume design for PALACE OF THE END (Theatre Network), set and costume design for ALIAS GODOT (Theatre Network).
