Maiden Voyage is a true story told-through-poetry, about teenage vulnerability, survival, and breaking curses. MV is a ritual-act that weaves together music, spell-crafand spoken word; invoking reckoning, resistance and repair in a messed up world.

Maigan van der Giessen is a poet, performance artist, and youth justice advocate working alongside Edmonton’s diverse communities for almost two decades. As local hip hop artist Tzadeka, she’s been on the scene since the early 2000’s, making music that is undeniably fresh, clever and magnetic. Maigan is an inspired performer, innovator and all around rabble rouser, whose work is constantly evolving. She is excited to be showcasing her debut Fringe show Maiden Voyage, at the Roxy theatre this August 16-23, as an emerging playwright!
