Alice Rich Exhibit
November 14 – December 22, 2024
Opening Party: November 14 @ 7:30PM (FREE EVENT)
Throughout Alice’s career, landscapes have dominated her interest. This focus has allowed her to experiment with colour, light, and abstractions. In this exhibition we explore two previous perspectives from the artist, Impressions and Interruptions. Impressions conveys a sense of place with emotions expressed by the landscapes and interpreted through the artist’s experience. Interruptions represent man’s impact on the natural landscape, symbolically, through geometric forms.
After receiving a BA in Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia, majoring in History of Art, Alice Rich joined the staff of the Vancouver Art Gallery as an Extension and Education officer. In this capacity she traveled throughout the Province of BC installing art exhibitions and lecturing to communities about art. She studied photography informally for several years while she attended Emily Carr University of Art and Design. She was previously the Assistant Director/Curator for the Contemporary Art Gallery of Vancouver before focusing exclusively on her own artistic practice. She has exhibited and worked in Canada, the US, and Europe. Her paintings are included in numerous private and public collections throughout North America and Europe, including Vancouver Art Gallery, St. Paul’s Hospital, Export Development Canada, the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, Nita Lake Lodge in Whistler, BC, and the Office of the Premier for BC. Her work was also featured during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
