It’s Nextfest…

Do you know where your artists is?

The annual closing event to Theatre Network’s season, Nextfest, is one of the largest festivals of its kind in Western Canada. Every year Nextfest draws hundreds of talented young artists from Edmonton and area into the heart 124th Street for 11-days dedicated to the creation and presentation of art in its many multidisciplinary forms. The festival, running June 5-15 this year, will provide emerging artists the opportunity to challenge themselves, share their work with eager audiences, and grow into working professionals. Many well-established artists from Edmonton—like Chris Craddock, Amy Shostak, Colleen Brown, and Mitchmatic—were able to use Nextfest as a stepping-stone in their professional arts careers. As such, Nextfest is key to the development of our local artists and is a vital part of Edmonton’s cultural identity.

You can support Nextfest’s artists in their development by participating in the Adopt-an-Artist program. At just $100 per adoption, the program assures that the emerging artists who participate in Nextfest 2014 not only get a first-rate experience in the professional arts world, but also that they are remunerated for their work.

The Adopt-an-Artist program is your opportunity to contribute to the success of our city’s emerging artists. For every $100 adoption, you can select an artist or artist in a specific discipline to “adopt”. During the festival, Adopters’ names will be featured in the Roxy Lobby alongside the names of artists they have adopted. All Adopters also receive a complimentary ticket to their adopted artist’s performance or presentation, and a charitable tax receipt for the full amount donated.

If you are interested in Adopting an Artist then give The Roxy office a call at 780 453 2440 or drop by The Roxy to pick up an Adopt an Artist donation card.
