Bradley Moss to Conclude Tenure as Artistic & Executive Director of TheatreNetwork After 30 Years of Transformative Leadership

Oct 08, 2025

EDMONTON, AB — Theatre Network’s Board of Directors announces that Bradley Moss will conclude his role as Artistic & Executive Director in December 2025, after three decades of extraordinary service and artistic leadership.

Bradley Moss joined Theatre Network in 1995, and over the past 30 years has shaped the company into one of Canada’s most dynamic and respected theatre institutions. His vision, passion, and commitment to community have left an enduring legacy on both Theatre Network and the broader Edmonton arts scene.

“Bradley’s leadership has been nothing short of transformational,” said Jared Tabler, President and Chair of Theatre Network’s Board of Directors. “His deep belief in the power of new work and emerging voices has made Theatre Network a national home for innovation and creativity.”

Champion of Emerging Artists: Nextfest
In 1996, Moss founded Nextfest, a multidisciplinary emerging artist festival that has since supported over 12,000 artists across theatre, music, visual arts, dance, and film. Nextfest is a meeting place for emerging professionals helping to build Edmonton’s artistic community. Nextfest published two volumes of plays by young writers helping them to gain recognition as they start their careers. Now in its 30th year, Nextfest continues to be a launchpad for early-career artists and a celebrated institution in Edmonton’s cultural calendar, with over 500 emerging artists participating every summer.

Directorial Excellence
Moss has directed numerous Elizabeth Sterling award-winning productions, receiving 17 Sterling Award nominations and winning Outstanding Director for Hedwig and the Angry Inch and The Gravitational Pull of Bernice Trimble. Bradley’s a courageous director, unafraid to tackle difficult \ topics, with heart and artistry to his productions. His direction of Pig Girl by Colleen Murphy brought national attention to Theatre Network, winning the Governor General Award for Drama.

Artistic Visionary
As Artistic Director, Moss oversaw the development and production of 27 world premieres, built long-standing partnerships with national artists: Ronnie Burkett, Mump & Smoot, Old Trout Puppet Workshop, Hannah Moscovitch, Eugene Stickland, Kevin Loring and Colleen Murphy. And he has championed local playwrights: Darrin Hagen, Cathleen Rootsaert, Kenneth Williams, Collin Doyle and Beth Graham. Under his leadership, Theatre Network has garnered more than 200 SterlingAward nominations and won 12 awards for Outstanding Production.

Executive Leadership & The Rebirth of The Roxy
Just before the tragic fire that destroyed the original Roxy Theatre in 2015, Moss took on the dual role of Artistic & Executive Director. He led the organization through a $12 million fundraising and rebuilding campaign, culminating in the opening of the new Roxy Theatre in 2021—a fully accessible, state-of-the-art performance venue that now houses two theatres, a workshop, and a rehearsal hall and the Miller Art Gallery.

A Legacy of Collaboration and Inclusion
Above all, Moss will be remembered for his ability to bring people together. Whether in the rehearsal hall, the boardroom, or the lobby, his collaborative spirit fostered a diverse and welcoming space for artists and audiences alike. Bradley Moss will continue his work in the arts as an independent artist and builder, further contributing to Canada’s cultural fabric.

“We are immensely grateful for Bradley’s dedication, vision, and heart,” added Tabler. “He leaves Theatre Network stronger than ever—an enduring artistic home for Edmonton and for Canadian theatre.”

The Board will be working to find new leadership for the new year.
