Adopt an Artist 2017

It’s time for Nextfest… Do you know where your artist is?

The sun is out and the emerging artists of Alberta are knocking at the doors of The Roxy on Gateway so they can get started on Nextfest. Thanks to our donors we have the Adopt-an-Artist program to help manage and support all of the new energy the artists of the festival bring to the building.

Nextfest is the largest festival of its kind in Canada, every year Nextfest draws talented young artists for 11-days for the multidisciplinary festival running June 1-11 provides emerging artists the opportunity to showcase their work with audiences. Nextfest has been a hive of creativity and ingenuity for artists from Edmonton and beyond for over 20 years with accomplished alumni such as playwright Chris Craddock (whose World Premiere production of Irma Voth just wrapped a Mainstage run as part of our season), local actor Sheldon Elter and co-founder of The Good Women Dance Collective Ainsley Hillyard. Nextfest is a training ground for creativity, discovery and development of Alberta’s newest artistic voices and your support helps us foster the excellence of artists like Chris, Sheldon, Ainsley and many others before they take on busy professional careers in the arts.

The Adopt-an-Artist program has been a key ingredient to Nextfest’s success – working to connect Theatre Network amazing supporters with burgeoning artists. At $100 per adoption, the program assures that the emerging artists who participate in Nextfest get a first-rate experience in the professional arts world and are remunerated for their work. With every $100 adoption, you can select a specific artist or artist in any discipline to “adopt”. Your name along with the artist you adopt will be on display at The Roxy on Gateway during the run of the festival. All adopters receive a charitable receipt for the full amount donated from Theatre Network.

If you are interested in adopting an artist contact Theatre Network by phone (780) 453 2440 or email info@theatrenetwork.ca. You can also drop by any of the venues as part of Nextfest 2017 to snag a donation card and mail it back to us.
