Cancellation Notice: Joni Mitchell’s Songs of A Prairie Girl

Mar 17, 2023

All remaining performances of Joni Mitchell’s Songs of A Prairie Girl are cancelled.

Last Friday, a performer in Joni Mitchell’s Songs of A Prairie Girl tested positive for COVID-19. Theatre Network cancelled performances through to today, Thursday, March 23 in observance of a 5-day isolation period. We had hopes of returning for this evening’s performance, however more of our cast-members have since tested positive and are not yet well enough to perform. In light of this, we have cancelled all remaining performances of Joni Mitchell’s Songs of A Prairie Girl.

To our patrons who have purchased tickets: We can provide a refund upon your request. As an alternative, we ask that you consider turning the cost of your ticket into a donation in support of Theatre Network (you will receive a charitable tax receipt).

For our season pass holders: Chat with us about the option that works best for you – we’re flexible. We can provide a credit towards your subscription renewal, additional tickets to our next production, Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes, a tax-receipt for the unused portion of your pass – or another bespoke option that works best for you.

As a non-profit organization and registered charity (number 119214302 RR0001), Theatre Network Society is committed to fostering new Canadian work by local artists. This kind of cancellation is devastating for all involved. Your donation at this time means a great deal, and ensures we can continue to provide the best in contemporary theatre to Edmonton audiences – especially in the face of these types of challenges.

From fires to floods, Theatre Network has seen all manner of disasters. This week’s disruption is more troubling, however, as our team members are ill. Our decision to cancel has not been taken lightly and is based solely around the recovery and well-being of our team. Our hearts are with our team at this time and we ask for your patience and understanding.

To contact us: Please let us know your preference by replying to this email or by leaving a voicemail at 780.453.2440. As we anticipate a high volume of messages we will be processing requests in the order we receive them by voicemail or email and kindly ask that you limit your correspondence to one of these methods. We hope to process all requests by next Friday, March 31.
